Barbie Collectors Dolls 2006
It all began when Ruth Handler noticed her daughter Barbara playing make-believe with paper dolls. She realized that the dolls available at that time were all baby dolls. What little girls needed was a doll that would inspire them to think about what they wanted to be when they grew up. That’s when the Barbie® doll was born.
She debuted in the now famous black-and-white striped swimsuit and signature ponytail. And she was a hit. Other ensembles followed later that year, including Gay Parisienne® and Roman Holiday.
